Website to match skiers and guides

RopedUp.com will help skiers split the cost of a day with a guide
A new website has launched matching skiers of a similar ability to share the cost of a local instructor or mountain guide.
The idea was spawned by powder junkie friends Archie Hardyment and Will Tyzack. The website RopedUp.com aims to connect “skiers of similar ability and outlook to each other and to our network of professional instructors and guides for safe and fun ski days that don’t cost the earth”.
Former ski instructor Will, who is now a barrister in London, told Where to Ski and Snowboard: “The idea has been to create a platform to allow skiers to split the cost of private instruction and guiding. The overall aim is to make skiing with professionals cheaper, so that more people can do it.
“With increasing numbers skiing off-piste and stories each year of avalanches, there’s a big safety aspect to it as it is so risky skiing off-piste without a guide. But Roped Up is available to all standards - from complete beginners to experts.”
Roped UP enables users — ski instructors, mountain guides and skiers/snowboarders — to create profiles so there is complete visibility on who you will be skiing with before the day happens, explains Will.
Evolution 2, the ESF and Mountain Tracks are already behind the venture, and while the website has launched in Chamonix the founders aim to expand it to other resorts as soon as they can.
