Where there’s snow ...

There's more up top in Ischgl.
When avalanche warnings are issued in October, you know snow must have fallen heavily somewhere! What a change from the balmy autumn temperatures we were reporting a week or so ago.
Winter arrived a little prematurely, with the first heavy snowfall and icy conditions of the season hitting Austria, southern Germany and parts of Switzerland this week.
It hasn’t just been the Alps though – Eastern Europe has received the unseasonably cold weather too (see our pic of Bania resort, near Zakopane - Poland). Check out our Snow section for snippets and updates as we receive them.
