The Winter X Games is to return to Tignes in 2011, after a successful debut in Europe last season.
Over 66,000 fans turned out to watch the freestyle competitions and to join in the festival fun in the French resort, when the X Games arrived for its first airing in Europe. The event is better known for its US venue, in Aspen Colorado. Such was its success in Tignes that it will return there from 16 to 18 March 2011.
More than 125 athletes took part in the three-day event, which saw Britain’s Jenny Jones scoop gold in the slope-style final and Olympic half-pipe champion Torah Bright pipped to the top spot by Kaitlyn Farrington - winning her first gold medal.
