World’s first electric piste basher unveiled

The world’s first all-electric piste basher has been unveiled by manufacturer PistenBully
The world’s first all-electric piste basher has been unveiled by manufacturer PistenBully. The machine — called the PistenBully 100 E — was first show at the Interalpin trade fair in Innsbruck earlier this year and is bound to appeal to an ever-increasing number of resorts battling to switch over to “green” power.
Diesel has been traditionally used to power piste bashers, and PistenBully first moved into electric power in 2012 with the PistenBully 600 E+ — which uses both diesel and electic power. The new PistenBully 100 E takes six and a half hours to charge, giving a run time of two and a half to three hours, all 100% emission free.
The company stated: “As a genuine PistenBully, the 100 E has already been successful in the snow - and passed its first test drives in a very convincing way. An extensive number of tests have been carried out during the study, because only well-engineered technology meets the high-quality demands of Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG. Highly promising prospects!”
