World’s first solar ski goggle lens wins award

The POC Cornea Solar Switch goggle is the first solar-powered ski goggle
The world’s first solar-powered ski goggles has picked up an award for its innovative design.
The Cornea Solar Switch goggle, by Swedish company POC, instantly and automatically change tint as weather conditions change. Last week POC picked up an ISPO award at a trade show in Germany, for its innovative design.
The solar-powered liquid crystal goggle lens instantly changes tint to become lighter in shadow or cloudy conditions or environments — for example when you’re skiing through wooded areas The lens then changes instantly again to provide a darker tint in sunny conditions.
The lens is powered only by the sun’s solar power, so there is no battery nor charging required. The Solar Switch goggle follows on the heels of POC’s Aspire Solar Switch sunglasses, made for cyclists.
The POC Cornea Solar Switch goggle will be available next season and is likely to cost around £450.
