WTSS reader books his winning trip

Jim Reed and wife Liz will head to La Toussiere in France next March
The winner of this year’s WTSS competition to win a free week in a Lagrange apartment has just booked his trip to La Toussiere, France.
Jim Reed, 66, won a week’s stay in a Lagrange prestige apartment for up to six adults after submitting a number of resort reports to us last year. His reports helped us compile Where to Ski and Snowboard 2015, and went into the draw to win a holiday.
“I have been reporting on resorts for WTSS since the second edition, although there were a couple of early years when I simply didn’t have anything new to say so didn’t submit anything,” said Mr Reed, who was “delighted” to hear of his win. “Last season I completed reports on Megève, Montgenèvre, and Champagny/La Plagne.”
Mr Reed and his wife, Liz, have booked a two-bedroom apartment, sleeping six, in the ski-in, ski-out Les Hauts de Comborciere residence in La Toussuire in early March. The block of 115 apartments is at the foot of the slopes, and in the resort centre, with a swimming pool and sauna/steam room. As a Lagrange Prestige property, Mr Reed and his party can also take advantage of Lagrange’s hotel service and pre-order food hampers.
“I invariably drive to the Alps and Pyrenees as my wife is not keen on flying and we tend to take the full kitchen sink on self-catering holidays,” he said. “We don’t much like the over-populated mega-resorts in March any more, and have been only once each to Valloire and Les Sybelles and rather like the Maurienne resorts, so Valloire and La Toussuire were the front-runners.”
An avid skier since the 1980s, Mr Reed and his wife will take several trips to the Alps this season, which he says is “the best way to spend the winter”.
The reception at Les Hauts de Comborciere
Lagrange sales and marketing executive Hetty Partington said La Toussuire is a great choice for a March ski holiday, as it boasts extensive yet peaceful high-altitude slopes and sunny weather conditions.
“We discussed the various options to see which would be the best fit for Mr Reed, such as the Lagrange Prestige Les Chalets du Galibier apartments in Valloire, as he has skied this domain before and liked the Maurienne Valley resorts but eventually Mr Reed decided to go with La Toussuire as the apartments are conveniently located very close to both the slopes and the resort centre. I hope they have a great time!”
Prices for Les Hauts de Comborciere start at £441 per week for a studio apartment sleeping 2 people. For more information visit lagrange-holidays.co.uk
