    News – 2017/18

The slow double Drink of Water chairlift at the top of the mountain, serving easy green runs, has been replaced by a new high-speed quad called the Red Buffalo Express. The new lift can carry 2400 people an hour (75% more than the old lift) and ride time has been halved to just over four minutes. This upgrade means that all the main lifts at Beaver Creek are now high speed. More than 200 acres of terrain served by the new lift have been designated as a ‘family and adventure learning area’ and 13 runs as a ‘family learning area’.

    Summary

‘Not exactly roughing it’ is the ironic slogan of Vail’s kid sister resort, coyly underlining its status as about the smoothest resort in the US. We don’t find the exclusive resort village particularly appealing, but the mountain certainly is. If the budget is tight, consider staying down in the valley, in Avon.
