GrimentzSwitzerland

The upside
- Charming, rustic village
- Excellent extensive off-piste
- Reliable snow-cover
- Uncrowded, varied slopes but ...
The downside
- Limited local pistes (but now linked to Zinal)
- Might be too quiet for some
- Lots of new development taking shape
- Timetabled buses or ideally a car needed to get between the areas, and the roads are not the best

Summary
Grimentz is one of five unspoiled old villages in the Val d’Anniviers, above the valley town of Sierre. The village of cute wooden buildings and narrow streets spreads up a steep slope, with newer (but tasteful) development taking shape around the tiny centre. The slopes are limited in extent, but since 2013/14 they have been linked by cable car (with a black piste back) to neighbouring Zinal. The slopes
offer delightfully uncrowded, varied intermediate cruising and have a good snow record. And the resort has a richly deserved reputation for its extensive off-piste. Buses serve the other main ski area in the valley (notably St Luc, which has its own web page) but a car is a better bet for getting around.
