News – 2020/21
In neghbouring Val Thorens, a new 400sqm natural ice rink will open. And the Alain Prost ice driving circuit will be the first in France to have only electric vehicles (2WD cars and 270cc go-karts) to try. A drone will be used to help with mountain safet, such as avalanche assessment and rescue operations.
News – 2019/20
‘Summit art’ (based on ‘street art’) exhibits will be on display in the resort and on the slopes. New evening snow groomer rides including dinner in a mountain restaurant are available. Guided ski touring under the stars is also available, again including dinner before skiing down on a groomed piste. Also new are electric snow scooters and ‘learn to fly a drone’ courses.
Summary
Les Menuires has a better position in the Trois Vallées than you might think, and we’ve warmed to it as better (and better-looking) lodgings have been built over recent years. It is much more affordable than more upmarket Courchevel and Méribel, and we now view Les Menuires as a very attractive base – especially the outlying bits we’ve christened ‘Belles-Menuires’ (notably Reberty).
