Summary
Arosa’s attraction for keen skiers was transformed in 2014 by new lifts linking it to neighbouring Lenzerheide. This more than trebled the size of its ski area to a very respectable 225km, on a par with Ischgl and Serre-Chevalier. The resort is isolated at the head of a long, winding valley and is set by a frozen lake which hosts winter horse races and a golf tournament. Winter walking and cross-country skiing are big here as well as downhill. If this sounds like a classic all-round winter resort, it is – it’s just a shame that most of the buildings in the main part of town are block-like and concrete rather than cute wooden chalets.
