Summary
You pass through Les Carroz on the drive up to Flaine. Carry on up, if you like; these days, we prefer to make camp at the lower village. Not only is it a much more pleasant place to spend time, but also it makes more sense as a base. In a snowstorm, you can ski the excellent, wooded local slopes; when the sun comes out you can explore the exposed slopes elsewhere in the Grand Massif, at nearby Samoëns or slightly more distant Flaine.
