Summary
Les Deux-Alpes is a big resort, with a tall mountain. But it doesn’t come from the standard major resort mould: it is not at all swanky, and good-value hotels are not hard to find. Its mountain is unusual, too: tall and narrow, offering a splendid Alpine feel, some long runs, but with pistes limited in total extent.
We’ve been complaining since 1994 about the dangerous home runs here – a hideously crowded green or blacks that are often mogulled and icy. So we were pleased to hear that a blue alternative was being built (at great expense); it eventually opened for the 2015-16 season. But we’ve heard mixed reports about it and look forward to trying it ourselves real soon.
