News – 2019/20
The community is working hard to secure funding and state finance for a new gondola to replace the ancient four-seat gondola accessing the minor Isenau area, which reached the end of its licensed life in 2012 and was subsequently removed. The hope was that a new lift might be constructed in 2021, but this is far from certain.
Summary
Les Diablerets is an unspoiled, sunny but spread-out village of mostly chalets and hotels. It tends to be overshadowed by its better-known neighbours, Villars (to which it is linked) and Gstaad. In many ways it makes a more sensible base than Villars for exploring the whole area: from here you have direct access to the pleasant intermediate slopes of Meilleret, shared with Villars, and easy access by bus to the more snow-sure Glacier 3000. There are wonderful views from the top of the glacier and long runs (including a new 8km red piste for 2017/18) down to the valley. It all adds up to a fairly extensive and varied area - sadly, snow reliability away from the glacier is not great. Across the resort from Meilleret, the smaller Isenau area is currently closed (read the news item above).
