Summary
Lenzerheide and Valbella lie at either end of a lake, in a pretty wooded setting, but along a busy main road. The villages are pleasant enough but rather spoiled by the traffic – but that won’t worry Roger Federer, who has a chalet on the hillside above. They share an extensive area of local slopes on both sides of the valley that is now linked to neighbouring Arosa, giving a total of 225km of pistes. The local east-facing, morning-sun slopes are mainly fairly gentle. The west-facing slopes are the ones linked to Arosa and have more character, both in skiing and visual terms, including a black World Cup downhill piste and a red run on the back of the dramatic peak of the Rothorn which includes a long tunnel. There is considerable off-piste potential.
