Review of Madonna di Campiglio

25th January 2007 by David Hosie

Further to my review of last year we visited Madonna again this year from 14 Jan to 21 Jan when all resorts were experiencing a severe lack of snow. I am happy to report that Madonna kept 90% of their pistes open by good use of the snow cannons whenever the temperature dropped to minus 3 degrees. The pistes were hard and icy until the sun came up and provided good easy skiing for 4 to 5 hours when they became soft and heavy(slushy). There was enough skiing to keep the average good intermediate skier happy for a week. No black pistes were open except the World Cup Slalom Run from Patascoss to the Village.
We found that the Cafe d’Oro on the 2nd floor of the Rainalter Complex was a good place for an apres ski drink although small, only 3 tables plus bar stools, the ambience is warm and welcoming and free snacks are served with the drinks.
