Review of Courchevel

16th April 2008 by Colin Chapman

Stayed in 1650 05-12 April in a self catered apartment in Domaine D’Arondiaz, on left as you head out of 1650 to 1850. Handily placed if you are above beginner standard as the 3 valleys chair (slow) is a downhill trundle on skis from the boot room. We were a mixed group of non skiers, young children and beginners and advanced. The young children went into ESF Club Piou Piou which was well run and good for an intro to skiing for children. the beginners had private lesson via ESF (Roland) each day in the afternoon, he was excellent. Tip for lessons - book either across the lunchtime 75 euros for 2 hours or afternoon 2-4.30 for 100 euros. Mornings were 140 euros.

We went to use the sledge run at 1850 down to 1550. Great fun ... very fast.

Eating out a couple of times, the restaurant next to the bubble bar was great as was another across the road under the garish green lights, packed with brits; drinks a bit pricey - 9 euros for a brandy and coke. Also ate in couple of times, got a roast chicken and potatoes from the deli in the high st.

all in all i think that I would return to 1650 and hope that the exchange rate is more favourable.
