Review of Zermatt

17th January 2011 by Ed Ferrari

Varied and scenic skiing on relatively challenging runs.  Three large varied sectors, now reasonably well connected - it’s possible to get between all three in a day.  The chance to go to Italy for the day is a welcome bonus, for a change of scene (and Italian style pistes!).

The town is lively and interesting, although shops cater mainly for those with big credit limits…  Found transport and getting to/from the slopes pretty straightforward, but it was not peak season.  Snow conditions good in the main, but some more remote runs without snowmaking were closed.  Stockhorn/Trifji was opening just as we left (15 January) according to the piste indicators - earlier than usual?
