Review of Cervinia

4th April 2012 by jeannie

Returned to Cervinia this March. Stayed at the Des Guides, only because it was so cheap and close to the slopes. A mistake, I`m afraid. The hotel offered minimal breakfasts, with no variety and foul, undrinkable coffee. The bar and lounge were locked down before 9pm every night, even though there was information in the room stating that it was open till midnight. The cinema underneath the hotel is now a nightclub and the nightly noise, between 1am and 4am was incredible. I see from the website of the holiday company that promotes this hotel has taken it off their books for 2013.
Otherwise, Cervinia was just as it always is, long and wide cruising slopes, easily accessible from the Cretaz and Pancheron chairs. Nice restaurants in the evening, we can recommend Il Solito Posto for their pasta and pizza. A welcoming, family run restaurant, just off the main street. Lenos is also good for pasta, and we had great pizzas at the Falcone, next door to Il Solito Posto.
