Review of Soldeu

18th March 2015 by Jon Widdows

Our group of 10 (age 40+) adults have just come back from a stunning week in Soldeu. We had blue skies for the majority of the week and whilst a few slopes did become a bit slushy by the end of the day this was a small price to pay. Stayed in the Hotel Sport, food was excellent as was the service. Just a 1 minute stroll to the lockers and a couple of minutes more to the 6 man chair or gondola up to Espiolets.
We are fairly confident intermediate skiers and there were no runs that we couldn’t tackle, the black World Cup Avet run back in to Soldeu being one of our favourites. Signage on the slopes was also excellent.
Most time was probably spent in the Grau Roig area and El Tartar - some really great long red runs and quick lifts.
Apres centred (as I’m sure it would have done with most people) around Fat Alberts, the Harp and the Aspen Bar, although we did have one good evening in the Source Code bar. Prices are reasonable, probably the most we paid for a pint was 4 euros in Fat Alberts - given the current euro/sterling exchange rate this was ok.
Snacked and lunched on the mountain - again this all seemed reasonable. There are quite a few ‘fast food’ style options if purse strings are tight.
We won’t be returning in the near future, too many other ski resorts to explore, but we had a great time and thought the whole resort was excellent.

Return to Soldeu
