Review of La Rosière
My wife and I spent 29/1 to 5/2 2011 in the Skiworld chalet Belette at Les Eucherts. Had 6 days sun - no snow since 10/1.
Lovely view down Tarentaise Valley. Days long as sun early and late and a pleasant lit walk through wood to La R.
Despite sun runs to resort in good condition - particularly reds and boardercross route off Fort chair and blue Choucas run into the setting sun very pleasant. Temps -2 -5 but breeze made fast chair rides very cold.
Could reach Belvedere in Italy easily via long but gentle poma then two fast covered chairs to access La T. All three areas give a different experience and all have wonderful scenery. There are lots of easy runs but blacks challenging and one can have a 1130 nonstop red/blue/red or black run to la T.
Only ate in Italy. Le Foyer off Chalets Express has fresh squeezed orange juice and pizza and La Raclette in Planibel is quiet, civilised and reasonably priced. We don’t apres but the other 10 30somethings in chalet enjoyed the Moobar and bowling locally plus clubs in La R.
Amazed at the lack of people on the slopes. Would definitely think of going back for a Feb week - a time we normally avoid. Despite skiing mainly in Italy would still favour sunny La R as base and accept risk of link closures. Need to check location of accommodation to avoid risk of a slippery walk down to the lift
