Review of Flaine

27th January 2015 by Linnylou

We visited Flaine for New Year and despite the lack of snow we had a good time. A family of four the two adults a bit rusty and two children 10 and 7 who had never been. We booked them in with the ESI and they loved every minute and didn’t want to come home. We stayed in the new apartments Les Terrasses d’Helios they were lovely and are ski in ski out but beware you need to have a ski pass for this as you will need to catch a four man chair up. However it does bring you straight into resort by the school school meeting place. It also certainly beats walking uphill to catch a crowded ski bus. Personally I wouldn’t book those apartments again because with a family we felt it would have been much easier to be more in the centre especially in the evenings.

We found the evenings very quiet and the resturants very easy to walk into and grab a table for six. On the whole we had a lovely time despite the conditions and most of the pistes being closed we found the lift operators very helpful with the children.

Would we go back again? Probably yes but stay more in the centre so it’s only 5 mins to ski school instead of 20. That extra 15 minutes in the morning is like gold dust when you are getting children ready.
