Review of Champoluc

26th January 2011 by peter woodhead

26/01/11 Just returned from Champoluc. No new snow for almost 4 weeks so no off piste. However all pistes in excellent condition although getting hard by the end of the week. I agree with other reviews that the off piste skiing must be the big draw for this area when available and our party will certainly return if conditions are favourable. Pistes almost deserted during weekdays Mountain restaurants were all welcoming and amongst the best were Punta Jolanda (formerly the Chamois), venison stew and polenta 10e for substantial portion! Now has a new terrace with wonderful views. Stayed at the De Champoluc Hotel very friendly and excellent position, just over a minute to the lift!  Eating out in Champoluc: must recommend ‘Il Balivo’ Route Ramey, just 100m from lift station. Main courses around 18e great atmosphere and terrific food.
