Review of Stuben

2nd January 2013 by Skiaskidoo

Stuben is an absolutely gorgeous hidden gem and the quintessential chocolate box of a young family skiing experience. Easy access from Innsbruck and Zurich, there are a number of very accommodating hotels and guesthouses. From the plush luxury of the Mondschein to the pragmatic slope-side Hotel Poste and the budget Landhaus Maria; there is something for every budget and all accept guest visitors for use of their spa facilities or restaurants - so you can plan your next holiday preference. Skiing is simple and virtually doorstep.  For complete beginners there is a bespoke gentle nursery section with tow and t-bar. The ski-school is one of the best i have seen, teaching the Austrian Arlberg technique so distinctive from the French style. For adventure, a simple double chair will take you up the face of the adjacent Albona into the Arlberg skiing rabbit warren and beyond of St.Anton. The hard-core can use this gateway to access the fabled 40km circuit of the “White Ring”, which commences at Zurs and takes in Oberlech and Lech before returning home. Ouch, enough vigour and vim to burn the quads for a month. This is a dream village for those that neither want the pomp or the price of the larger centers. I wish i hadn’t written this now, as the secret is out of the bag.
