Review of Schladming
Spent a week here in Feb 2017. The weather was changeable, from -3 to +15 seen on the lift temperature displays. You need to enjoy red runs to get the best from the area. We found the best skiing on the top of the Reiteralm, and enjoyed the runs from the top of Planai. No 33 from Hochwurzen tended to be very lumpy and we found the lower runs between Hochwurzen and Planai (40 and 2a) very heavy even in February as it was so mild. The younger members of the group enjoyed the black run (3) into the Olympiastadion.
We kept returning to the Tauernalm bar in Rohrmoos at the end of skiing; it is just by the lift station. Of the mountain restaurants the Panoramaalm on run 2 on the Reiteralm provided live music with a distinctive Austrian feel.
The night toboggan on the Hochwurzen proved more challenging than expected, with one sledge overtaking its driver until stopped by a tree!
Will we go again? Of course we will!
