Review of La Plagne

20th January 2015 by uncunc

I visited La Plagne from 11/01/15 to 18/01/15. It was my 12th visit to this resort.  There was far less snow than normal for this time of year. I’m glad I chose a resort whose main village is 2000m high.  Snow making and 2 dumps of 10cm+ made for a good week. The groomers always seem to give some good skiing, even in lean years. A few runs to the lower villages were closed, due to poor coverage.
Recent lift upgrades have made a great difference. The new 8 seater Colloses from Bellecote is allegedly the fastest chair in Europe.  Verdons Sud and Becoin have been renewed and Melezes has been added to give a much needed extra link for 1800.
My visit was all inclusive. However, from previous years the Miners Arms (La Mine) in 1800 was good and Domino (not the chain one) does great and reasonably priced pizza, tucked away in Plagne Centre.
I am now off to Lech and subsequently Selva.  My first visits to these resorts.  It will be good to see how they compare with La Plagne.
